Fourth of July at Amager (AKA Amerikaner Dag)

Fourth of July at Amager (AKA Amerikaner Dag)

amager-american-flag-reflection Back in May Amager did collaboration brews with four American breweries during Copenhagen Beer Celebration. You can read about the collaboration brew day with Surly, which I attended, right here. Well when it came time to release these collaborations, it just so happened to coincide with one of the most American holidays possible; Fourth of July. So this year Amager's "Amerikaner Dag" became Fourth of July party at Amager, murrican style.

I love a good Fourth of July party. It's actually something I miss from back home. I used to go to big cookout parties with my family just about every year I can remember. So when I heard one of my favorite breweries was doing a party on the fourth of July I was so in. Now this wasn't just an open day at the brewery to release some beers. Amager went all out for this party. American Car Club Copenhagen was there and the brewery's lawn was covered in classic American cars. The famous John's Hotdog Deli was there grilling up burgers, packing buns with delicious pulled pork and of course serving hotdogs covered in all kinds of goodies made with beer. A rockabilly band played to really bring in that classic American vibe. They even had a cotton candy machine!

You also can't forget the beer. All four CBC collabs plus the earlier collaboration with grass roots were on tap and on sale in bottles. The sheer amount of people that showed up was incredible. Every square centimeter of the lawn not covered by Detroit steel was full with people sitting and laying out on the grass in the beautiful weather. Lines to try the beer ran straight out the door and everyone seemed to be really enjoying the beers. I saw more then a few people wheeling out multiple cases to fill their cars, so I guess they went down well!

So a totally awesome afternoon well spent. I thank Amager for throwing such a great party for the Fourth and making me and probably quite a few other ex pat Americans a little nostalgic. Now I leave you with a few nice pictures from the event.
