Black Butte Porter
This beer got the official seal of approval from my friend Grahm. He says it is his favorite porter. So I am really looking forward to this one. It is also the only dark beer that was available in the "American BBQ" line of beers I picked up from the supermarket.
Pours very dark, but not completly black. Nice bit of light makes it through. Huge offwhite head, over three fingers escaping my glass. The head like the color of the beer is a lot lighter then I thought it would be. Leaves a lot of lacing in the glass. Very malty aroma. Dark heavy roasted malts and coffee, bit of smokiness too, really interesting. The taste is much the same. Rich dark malt and coffee taste. Interesting hop bitterness in the backend that really accent those chocolatey notes. This is a medium body very very creamy beer. I totally agree with Grahm that this is an amazing porter. A for sure go to for me in the future when I want a good porter
